FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Film School, Two Gallants, and Scissors for Lefty headline an afternoon showcasing the best indie bands from the San Francisco Bay Area scene.
From the Beats to the hippies, the punks to the ravers, the San Francisco Bay Area has long been known as a breeding ground for forward-thinking artists, an environment for free spirits where trends are made, developed, perverted and shattered. Most importantly, San Francisco has always been a city of great groundbreaking music.
Given its long history of musical revolution, it shouldn't be a surprise that the San Francisco Bay Area has one of the most fertile and diverse scenes in indie music today, a scene from which bands like Film School, Two Gallants, and Scissors for Lefty have burst onto the national scene. This March, at the 2008 South by Southwest Music Festival, these three groups usher in the new vanguard of Bay Area indie rock, headlining an free afternoon of music that had to be called The Bay Area Takeover.
The Takeover was conceived by two San Francisco record labels, Three Ring Records and Tricycle Records, and the Bay Area's premier online music destination, The Bay Bridged, as a grassroots way to showcase the best up-and-coming and underground indie rock music in the San Francisco Bay Area scene. The free party takes place on Thursday, March 13th from 12-6pm at the Beauty Bar in Austin and features FIFTEEN SF bands on two stages, as well as goodie bags and treats from our Bay Area-based sponsors to give the afternoon a truly San Francisco feel.
You may already be familiar with some of these bands from their national and west coast tours, but we invite you to visit our web site to find out more information hear music from all of these bands. We would be happy to assist in any coverage of the party, including setting up interviews, offering exclusive content, and coordinating pre-party giveaways.
